Storm chances will linger Thursday night into Friday morning south of the Missouri River, according to the weather service. Severe weather is not expected with these storms.

The Kansas and Missouri rivers in Wyandotte County are currently below flood stage and below action stage. The Missouri River at Parkville was at 20.23 feet at 7:45 a.m. Aug 8, where flood stage is 25 feet. The Kansas River at 23rd Street was at 23.17 feet at 7:45 a.m. Aug. 8, where the flood stage is 33 feet, according to hydrology charts.

Tonight, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 70 with a light and variable wind. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.
Friday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 a.m., then a slight chance of showers after 1 p.m., the weather service said. It will be partly sunny with a high near 83 and an east northeast wind of 3 to 6 mph.
