Democrats to meet April 19

The Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast will meet Saturday, April 19, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 520 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

Speakers will include A.J. Kotich, candidate for Kansas attorney general, and Reggie Marselus, candidate for Congress, Third District.

Democratic state legislators will also be available to discuss this year’s legislative session.

The buffet is available at 8:15 a.m. and the forum begins at 9:15. The cost for the breakfast buffet, which includes tax, service and tip, is $10, or $7 for students and those on limited income. All Democrats are invited to attend.

Red flag warning in effect today

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 16 in Wyandotte County.

A wind advisory also is in effect today, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The humidity will drop rapidly this morning, falling below 30 percent by 11 a.m. and below 25 percent from 1 p.m. through 6 p.m.

The low humidity, temperatures and wind mean there is a high risk of fire today, and all outdoor burning should be avoided.

This morning, the temperature was 48 and wind speed was 14 mph, gusting to 21 mph.

Today’s high will be near 67.

Wind gusts today could reach as high as 40 mph, the weather service said.

Thursday’s forecast contains a 30 percent chance of precipitation, and temperatures may reach 51. The chance of showers continues Thursday night.

There also will be a chance of rain on Saturday night and Sunday.
