Vehicle overturns in accident on I-70

An accident was reported on westbound I-70 near I-635 at 9:43 p.m. Sept. 20, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

Two vehicles were traveling westbound on I-70 when a Toyota 4Runner swerved into a Dodge Ram 1500, the trooper’s report stated.

The Toyota 4Runner then crossed back through all lanes of traffic and rolled over, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Toyota 4Runner, a 20-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, had a possible serious injury, the trooper’s report stated.

The driver of the Ram 1500, a 41-year-old man from Bonner Springs, Kansas, had no apparent injury, according to the trooper’s report.

Cold front to move through area today

A cold front will move through the area today, cooling temperatures and bringing a chance for showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature Wednesday will drop about 17 degrees from Tuesday’s high.

Showers are possible from today through Friday, the weather service said. Severe weather is not expected.

From a tenth to a half inch of rain is possible, according to the weather service.

Today, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 83 with a west southwest wind of 8 to 13 mph becoming north northeast in the afternoon. Winds may gust up to 18 mph.

Tonight, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the weather service. The low will be around 58.

Thursday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m., with a high near 62, the weather service said. A northeast wind of 8 mph will gust as high as 18 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

Thursday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 55 with an east wind of 6 mph.

Friday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 65 with a southeast wind of 6 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Friday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 55, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be sunny, with a high near 85, the weather service said.
