Cooler, windy weather moves into area

After showers and storms moved through Wyandotte County in the early morning hours, the rest of the day is expected to be sunny, with a high of 73, the weather service said.

Cooler weather has moved into the area today. Wind gusts as high as 22 mph are possible today, the weather service said.

Strong winds are expected Thursday out of the northwest and Friday out of the west, with gusts up to 34 mph, according to the weather service.

The gusty winds with the overall dry conditions may lead to elevated fire weather, the weather service said.

Overnight temperatures may drop to a low of 35 on Monday night, according to the weather service.

Today, it will be sunny, with a high near 73 and a west northwest wind of 9 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 46 and a west wind of 6 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be sunny, with a high of 67 and a west northwest wind of 8 to 13 mph in the afternoon, the weather service said. Winds may gust as high as 34 mph.

Thursday night, it will be clear, with a low of 42 and a west wind of 5 to 8 mph, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be sunny, with a high near 70 and a west wind of 6 to 15 mph, gusting as high as 29 mph, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 52, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 67, the weather service said.

Stabbing reported in Bonner Springs

A stabbing was reported Monday night near Kump and Bluegrass in Bonner Springs.

According to a news release from the Bonner Springs Police Department, officers responded about 9:21 p.m. Oct. 10 to the disturbance.

They found a 23-year-old Edwardsville man with two stab wounds, police stated.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to police.

The 19-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to the Wyandotte County Jail, according to police.
