Temperatures mild today, cold front moves in tonight

Snow may be melting today as temperatures hit 54, but a cold front will move in tonight, leading to much colder temperatures, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Today will be the mildest day of the week, with temperatures reaching 54 before a cold front moves in tonight.

A strong cold front will move into the region Tuesday night and Wednesday, leading to much colder temperatures, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Gusty winds of 25 to 30 mph are expected Tuesday night and Wednesday behind the cold front as temperatures plummet, the weather service said.

Tuesday’s high will be near 54, but on Wednesday, temperatures will fall to around 19 by 5 p.m., according to the weather service. Thursday’s high will be near 18. Temperatures will rebound a bit on Friday, to a high near 29.

Today’s skies will be mostly sunny, with a high near 54 and a south southwest wind of 6 to 10 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 22 and a southwest wind of 5 to 10 mph becoming north 11 to 16 mph after midnight, according to the weather service. Winds may gust as high as 29 mph.

Wednesday, it will be mostly cloudy, with temperatures falling to around 19 by 5 p.m., the weather service said. A north wind of 15 to 17 mph will gust as high as 29 mph.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low of 5. Wind chill values will be between minus 3 and 2. A north wind of 7 to 14 mph will gust as high as 18 mph.

Thursday, it will be sunny, with a high near 18 and a north wind of 5 to 8 mph, the weather service said.

Thursday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 5, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be sunny, with a high near 29, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 20, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 35, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 17, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be sunny, with a high near 41, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 24, according to the weather service.

Monday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 44, the weather service said.

Wyandotte County was blanketed with snow overnight, and snow continues to fall Saturday morning.

A winter weather advisory is in effect until noon Saturday, Jan. 15, according to the National Weather Service.
Snow is expected to come to an end from north to south by early this afternoon, ending about 11 a.m. Saturday in Wyandotte County.

Parts of Wyandotte County received approximately 4 inches of snow overnight and Saturday morning. An additional 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible over the entire area this morning.

Hazardous travel is expected this morning, and the weather service is advising residents to stay home if possible.

Saturday, there will be areas of fog before 10 a.m., as snow continues mainly before 11 a.m., the weather service forecast said. The high will be near 27. A north northeast wind of 13 to 17 mph will gust as high as 34 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible.

Saturday night, there will be patchy fog possible between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., according to the weather service. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low about 12. A north wind of 6 to 11 mph will become light and variable after midnight.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 35, the weather service said. A calm wind will become southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Sunday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low around 25, according to the weather service. A northwest wind of 6 to 8 mph will gust as high as 18 mph.

On Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 42, the weather service said. A northwest wind around 6 mph will become light and variable in the afternoon.

Snow falling here as area under a winter weather advisory

Snow has been falling in Wyandotte County for the past two hours, and the area is under a winter weather advisory from midnight tonight through noon Saturday.

The weather service forecast called for rain and snow possible after midnight, then snow after 3 a.m.

From 1 to 3 inches of snow was possible, according to the forecast.

Saturday’s forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of precipitation and snow, mainly before 10 a.m. From 1 to 3 inches of new snow is possible.

The low will be around 24 degrees Friday night into Saturday morning. Saturday’s high will be near 28.

The weather service said motorists should plan on slippery road conditions.

Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, according to the weather service.

Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling, the weather service said.
