Westbound I-70 has been closed at Goodland, Kansas, because of winter weather conditions in Colorado, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Motorists traveling west are advised to use alternate routes or delay travel if possible, a KDOT spokesman stated.

Additional closures may be necessary if conditions worsen, according to KDOT.

Temperatures go back to the freezer today

Temperatures on Tuesday are much cooler than Monday’s high of 54.

On Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., the high was 13 in Wyandotte County with a wind chill of 2, according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday’s high is expected to reach 25, the weather service said.

Temperatures will remain below freezing while warming again toward the end of the week, according to the weather service.

Wind chills are expected to be around 5 to 10 below on Wednesday morning, the weather service said.

Don’t expect temperatures to go very high on Wednesday, according to forecasters. They may climb to about 33 here, but the 5 to 10 mph southerly winds will probably contribute to daily maximum wind chill readings in the 15 to 25 degree range. While Wednesday starts the warming trend, it won’t get that far until Thursday.

Thursday, the high returns to the 40s, then on Saturday, the high may be 46, the weather service said.

Today, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 25, and a north northeast wind of 8 to 10 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low of 10, according to the weather service. A north wind of 5 to 8 mph will become light and variable after midnight.

Wednesday, it will be sunny, with a high near 33, the weather service said. A light and variable wind will become south 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Wednesday night, there will be increasing clouds, with a low of 28, according to the weather service. A south southwest wind of 8 to 10 mph will gust as high as 20 mph.

Thursday, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 41, the weather service said. A southwest wind of 8 to 10 mph will become north northwest in the afternoon, with winds gusting up to 18 mph.

Thursday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 19, according to the weather service.

Look for a little warmer weather on Monday, as the high reaches 49 in Wyandotte County, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Change is coming, though, with a northwesterly wind moving into the area today, the forecast predicts.

A brief respite from the cold, the warm weather will peak today and be over tonight, as the low drops to around 13, and tomorrow’s high will be near 22, the weather service said.

Wind chills of 5 to 15 below zero are possible Tuesday morning, according to the weather service. For Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, look for wind chills to drop to a reading of zero to 10.

Highs will reach the 20s on Tuesday, and the 30s on Wednesday, the weather service said. Thursday will be back to the mid-40s.

Weekend weather will be in the 40s, according to the weather service. No precipitation is in the next seven-day forecast.

Today, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 49, the weather service said. A west southwest wind of 6 to 16 mph will become north in the afternoon, with winds gusting as high as 24 mph.

Tonight, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 13, according to the weather service. A north wind of 9 to 14 mph will gust as high as 22 mph.

Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 22, the weather service said. Wind chill values between zero and 10 are possible, with the north wind at 9 to 11 mph.
