The Presidents Day forecast is a high of 70 degrees, followed by a cold front moving in tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 20 percent chance of drizzle and thunderstorms tonight into Tuesday, the weather service said.

There is a small chance for freezing drizzle immediately behind the cold front on Tuesday, the weather service said. Areas north of St. Joseph, Missouri, have a higher chance of freezing drizzle.

Light snow is possible Wednesday afternoon and Thursday across the area, according to the weather service.

The chance of snow is 30 percent Wednesday night, 60 percent on Thursday and 30 percent on Thursday night, the weather service said.

Below normal temperatures are expected through Saturday, according to the weather service.

Today, Presidents Day, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 70, the weather service said. A south southwest wind of 11 to 16 mph will gust as high as 28 mph.

Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of drizzle and thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m., then a slight chance of drizzle after 3 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 28 with a south wind of 8 to 14 mph becoming north after midnight. Winds may gust as high as 22 mph.

Tuesday, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 29, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 15 to 20 mph will gust as high as 28 mph.

Tuesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 9, according to the weather service. The wind chill will be between minus 3 and 7. A north northwest wind of 10 to 15 mph will gust as high as 23 mph.

Wednesday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 26, the weather service said. A north wind of 10 to 13 mph will gust as high as 22 mph.

Wednesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of snow, with a low of 16, according to the weather service.

Thursday, there is a 60 percent chance of snow likely, mainly after noon, the weather service said. The high will be near 26.

Thursday night, there is a 30 percent chance of snow before midnight, with a low of 11, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 28, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 11, according to the weather service.

The weather warms up a little today, rising above the freezing level to a high of 39 this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Areas with snowpack can be a little cooler. The seven to nine inches of snow that fell Thursday remained on the ground this morning, with temperatures at 18 degrees at 9 a.m., and a wind chill reading of 9 degrees.

Wind gusts as high as 30 mph will add to the coldness of the day. There will be an elevated fire danger across the northern part of the region, the weather service said.

Roller coaster temperatures are expected this week, with mild conditions developing Sunday night and continuing into Tuesday before a strong cold front moves through the region, according to the weather service. Tuesday’s high of 33 will be a 30-degree drop from Monday’s high of 61.

Today, it will be sunny, with a high near 39, and a southwest wind of 11 to 17 mph, gusting as high as 30 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 20, according to the weather service. A southwest wind of 6 to 9 mph will become north after midnight. Winds may gust up to 21 mph.

Saturday, it will be sunny, with a high of 37, the weather service said. A north wind of 6 to 9 mph will become south southeast in the afternoon.

Saturday night, it will be clear, with a temperature rising to around 39 by 3 a.m., according to the weather service. A south wind of 7 to 16 mph will gust as high as 33 mph.

Sunday, it will be sunny, with a high near 57 and a south southwest wind of 9 to 17 mph, gusting as high as 33 mph, the weather service said.

How much snow was there?

About 7 inches of snow was the snow total Thursday in one area of Kansas City, Kansas. Tonight’s low will be near 6, according to the National Weather Service. Friday’s high will be about 38. The Unified Government stated on a Facebook post that some areas are expected to become snow-packed tonight. UG crews are plowing major and secondary routes. Previously plowed areas were covered with snow again and crews will return to plow and treat the areas. Once they plow the major and secondary routes, then they will move into neighborhood routes, according to the UG. Residents should slow down and drive with caution, make sure the vehicle has snow tires; avoid parking on the street; avoid driving on hills; and don’t drive in a manner that could cause your vehicle to become stalled, according to the UG.
