A light snow was falling Thursday morning in Wyandotte County.

Residents can expect a dusting of up to 1 inch of snow, the National Weather Service said. Light snow built into the area from the south, arriving between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. south of I-70, and 9 a.m. to noon north of I-70.

Light snow will exit the area west to east, according to the weather service, ending between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Thursday.

Cold temperatures will remain until Saturday. Today’s high will be near 22 with tonight’s low around 9. Saturday’s high will be near 44. On Sunday, the high will be near 57.

Today, there is a 50 percent chance of snow, mainly before 5 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 22 with a north wind around 8 mph.

Tonight, there is a chance of flurries before 9 p.m., according to the weather service. Skies will gradually clear, with a low of 9. Wind chill values will be between minus 2 and 3. A northwest wind will be 8 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph.

Friday, it will be sunny, with a high near 30, and wind chill values between minus 1 and 9, the weather service said. A north northwest wind will be 3 to 8 mph.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 17, and a calm wind, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 44, the weather service said. A calm wind will become southwest 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

The wind chill was minus 10 at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23, in Wyandotte County, according to the National Weather Service.

Today’s high will be near 24, with tonight’s low around 16, the weather service said.

Light snow is expected on Thursday, and the amount of snow is expected to remain under 2 inches, according to the weather service.

Snow will be building into the area from the south, the weather service said.

Snow will start along and south of I-70 starting at 6 a.m. through 9 a.m. Snow will exit the area between 6 p.m. Thursday and midnight, from west to east.

Motorists should be careful when driving on Thursday, the weather service said.

Temperatures will rise into the 40s on Saturday, according to the forecast.

Today, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 24 and wind chill between minus 8 and 2, the weather service said. A north wind of 8 to 13 mph will gust as high as 20 mph.

Tonight, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 16, according to the weather service. A northeast wind of 8 mph will gust as high as 18 mph.

Icy glaze could affect today’s commute

Wyandotte County is under a winter weather advisory this morning until noon today, according to the National Weather Service.

The area has received some freezing drizzle, and additional ice accumulations of a light glaze are possible, according to the weather service.

Residents are advised to be aware that there could be slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges, which could affect the morning and evening commutes, the weather service said. Motorists were advised to slow down and use caution.

Temperatures plunged overnight, going from a high of 70 on Monday to a 20 degrees at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Subzero wind chills are expected tonight into Wednesday morning, according to the weather service.

Light snow, with minor accumulation, will be possible Wednesday night and Thursday, the weather service said.

Today, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 30, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 15 to 17 mph will gust as high as 26 mph.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 8, and wind chill values between minus 6 and 4. A north northwest wind of 11 to 15 mph will gust as high as 21 mph.
