Weekend forecast: Clear and cool

Today’s weather forecast is sunny with a high near 60. Look for much colder weather to arrive on Tuesday of next week.

Saturday’s forecast is sunny with a high near 50. A north northwest wind of 13 to 18 mph will decrease to 7 to 12 mph in the afternoon. Winds may gust as high as 26 mph.

Saturday night, the lost will be around 35, and the skies will be mostly clear.

Sunday, look for mostly sunny weather with a high near 60. The south southwest wind will be 7 to 11 mph.

On Sunday night, expect a low of 43.

A cold front may move into the area on Monday, and it will be much colder Tuesday and Wednesday in the region, according to the weather service.

Temperatures will be up and down over the next few days as several weak fronts move through the area.

On Monday night and Tuesday, the first stage of arctic air will spill through the eastern half of the country. Tuesday and Wednesday highs will likely be 20 to 30 degrees colder than high temperatures today, according to the weather service.

The high will be 38 on Tuesday, and around 22 on Tuesday night. Wednesday’s high will be near 34.

Windy weather will cause fire danger Wednesday

The National Weather Service says that there will be a slightly elevated fire danger today across eastern Kansas and western Missouri.

Dry conditions will continue through the upcoming weekend, according to the weather service.

After a quick warm-up today, a series of cold fronts will sweep through and keep temperatures below average.

Wednesday’s forecast is sunny with a high near 65. There will be a southwest wind of 9 to 15, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Tonight, the low will be 41 degrees.

Thursday’s forecast is sunny with a high near 53. Winds will be 9 to 15 mph with gusts of 22 mph. Thursday night, look for a low of 34.

On Friday, the weather will be mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Winds will be 6 to 14 mph with gusts as high as 18 mph. Friday night, the low will be 43.

On Saturday, temperatures will be 51 with mostly sunny skies. Saturday night’s low will be around 33.

Sunday, look for a high of 57 with mostly sunny skies. Sunday night, the low will be 41.

Showers are likely, mainly after 5 p.m. Today’s high will be near 65. Winds will be breezy, from the south southwest at 16 to mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph, according to the weather service.

Tonight, showers and possibly a thunderstorm may appear before midnight. The low will be 47. New rainfall amounts will be between a tenth of an inch and a quarter of an inch, the weather service said.

On Tuesday, Election Day, the high will be near 56. There is no rain in the forecast Tuesday. The north northwest wind will be 5 to 9 mph.
