Tuesday to be a bit warmer

Wyandotte County will warm up a little bit today, compared to Monday’s frigid temperatures.

At 26 degrees at 8 a.m., with a wind chill of 19, the temperatures on Tuesday were expected to rise to a high of 39, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight, look for a low of 24. A south southwest wind of 6 mph will become calm after midnight.

Wednesday, temperatures will rise to a high near 41, with a north northeast wind of 3 to 8 mph. Wednesday night look for cloudy skies and a low of 28.

Thursday, there will be a chance of drizzle in the afternoon, with a high near 40. Thursday night, there will be a 30 percent chance of rain, with a low of 36.

On Friday, expect a high near 45 with a 30 percent chance of rain. Friday night, the low will be around 32.

Saturday’s high will be near 42, while Saturday night’s low will be around 33.

Sunday will be cloudy with a high near 47. Sunday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain with a low around 34.

Monday’s weather will be sunny and a high of 44.

Single-digit wind chill readings start the day

Residents are braving single-digit wind chill readings on Monday morning.

At 8 a.m., the temperature was 19 degrees, a wind chill of 6, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service expected the temperature to rise to a high of 27 later today. The winds will be from the northeast at 7 to 11 mph.

Tonight, expect a low of 18 with a northeast wind of 5 to 7 mph, becoming calm after midnight.

Tuesday, the weather changes again, with a warmup leading to a high near 40. The wind will be from the southeast, becoming south southwest from 6 to 11 mph on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday night, look for a low of 28.

Wednesday, the high will be near 43. Wednesday night, the low will be around 30.

On Thursday, the high will be around 39, and Thursday night, the low will be around 33.

A weekend warmup starts Friday, when the high will be around 45. Friday night, the temperature will be around 35.

Saturday, look for a high near 49, and Saturday night, a low of 37.

On Sunday, there will be a 40 percent chance of rain with a high near 49.

Arctic air sweeps into area

A blast of arctic air found its way to the Kansas City area on Sunday.

Temperatures at 2 p.m. were 31 degrees, with a wind chill of 21, according to the National Weather Service. They dropped 20 to 25 degrees this morning, when winds changed to north-northwest.

By 6 p.m. Sunday, temperatures should drop to 26 degrees, and by 9 p.m., to 22 degrees, according to the weather service.

Tonight, the low will drop to 16 degrees, the weather service said. The north wind will be around 15 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Monday, look for mostly sunny skies and a high of 28 degrees. North northeast winds will be 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

The Monday morning bus-stop temperature can range from 16 degrees at 6 a.m. to 18 degrees at 9 a.m.

Monday night, the low will be around 18, with winds from the northeast at 5 to 8 mph becoming southeast after midnight.

Tuesday, the mercury starts climbing again, when the high will be near 41. A south wind will be from 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday night, the low will be around 27.

Look for Wednesday’s high to be near 43, and Wednesday night’s low, 27.

On Thursday, skies will be mostly cloudy with a high near 39. Thursday night, the low will be around 33.

On Friday, skies will be mostly cloudy with a high near 47. Friday night, the low will be around 36.
