Temperatures to reach mid-50s today

A sunny day, with a high near 54, is ahead today, according to the National Weather Service.

A south wind of 6 to 11 mph also is today’s forecast. Tonight, expect a low of 33, with calm winds, the weather service said.

Wednesday, expect a colder day, as temperatures will fall about 25 degrees from the previous day’s high, to 29 degrees at 5 p.m., according to the weather service. The wind will be from 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday night’s low will be around 13, the weather service said, with winds of 11 to 18 mph, gusting to 28.

Thursday, it will be sunny with a high near 25, according to the weather service. The wind will be 13 to 18 mph, decreasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph.

Thursday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 19, the weather service said.

Friday, the high will be near 45, and Friday night, the low will be around 20, according to the weather service.

The weekend will be cooler than last weekend.

Saturday, Valentine’s Day, will reach a high of 28, with sunny skies, the weather service said. Saturday night, the low will be 10.

Sunday, expect a high of 34 with mostly sunny skies. Sunday night, the low will be 24, the weather service said.

The weather is a little warmer for Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 16, when the high will be near 48, according to the weather service.

Cooler today, rest of week will vary in temperature

Some roller-coaster temperatures will be back this week for Wyandotte County.

Today’s high will be 42 degrees, the National Weather Service said, which is 24 degrees lower than Sunday’s high of 66.

According to the weather service, clouds hang over much of the Midwest today. They are expected to scatter out later today, possibly in mid to late afternoon, the weather service said.

Tuesday probably will be the warmest day of the week, the weather service said, with temperatures warming back into the lower 50s for areas near and south of Kansas City.

Another cold front arrives on Tuesday night, bringing a seasonably chilly shot of cold air, according to the weather service.

The high on Wednesday will be 42. Temperatures will bottom out in the teens Wednesday night and remain below freezing on Thursday, the weather service said. Thursday’s high will be near 28, according to the weather service.

A brief warmup on Friday with a high near 45 will be followed by another cold front over the weekend with similar temperatures to Thursday, according to the weather service.

Saturday, Valentine’s Day, temperatures may reach a high near 36, with a low of 19 on Saturday night.

Moisture will be very limited throughout the week, so these cold fronts will be without any precipitation, the weather service said.

Weekend weather to be warm and windy

Look for snow to melt today as the National Weather Service forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 56.

A south southwest wind of 10 to 14 mph today will include gusts as high as 20 mph, according to the weather service. Tonight’s low will be 36.

Saturday, the temperature may rise to a spring-like 68 degrees, the weather service said, with south southwest winds from 8 to 11 mph. Saturday night, the low will be around 40.

On Sunday, there will be sunny skies with a high near 56, and northwest wind of 7 to 10 mph, as a cold front moves into the area, according to the weather service. Sunday night, the low will be 31.

Monday, look for a high near 48 with mostly sunny skies, the weather service said. Monday night’s low will be near 33.

Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny with a high near 58, according to the weather service. The low will be around 35 on Tuesday night.

Wednesday’s forecast is mostly cloudy with a high near 42, as another cool front moves in, and Wednesday night, the low will be around 18, according to the weather service.

On Thursday, expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 30, the weather service said.
