More rain in forecast today

After some overnight rain and thunderstorms, more rain is in the forecast for Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

A cold front moved through the area, dropping temperatures into the 40s overnight. Friday’s high will be near 41, the weather service said. Windy weather is in the forecast, with wind gusts up to 32 mph on Friday.

Friday night’s low will be around 32, according to the forecast, and Saturday’s high will be 61, according to the weather service. Temperatures will bounce back to 72 on Sunday. Look for more rain in the forecast next week.

Friday, there is a 100 percent chance of rain, mainly before 3 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 43 with a north wind of 17 to 20 mph, gusting to 32 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Friday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain before 10 p.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 32. A northwest wind of 7 to 9 mph will gust up to 30 mph.

Saturday, it will be sunny, with a high near 61 and a west northwest wind of 7 to 9 mph, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be clear, with a low of 40, according to the weather service. A calm wind will become south around 5 mph after midnight.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 72, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 52, according to the weather service.

Monday, there is a 50 percent chance of rain after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 64.

Monday night, there is a 90 percent chance of rain before 1 a.m., then showers after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be 48.

There is a slight chance of rain and storms after 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Rain is predicted to begin Thursday evening in Wyandotte County, with isolated thunderstorms and no severe weather, the weather service said. Temperatures could reach a high of 72 today, but Friday’s high will be 46.

Overnight Thursday into Friday, the rain will continue, according to the weather service. Snow that was in the weather service forecast for Friday morning in Kansas City, Kansas, has now been taken out of the forecast, with the low on Thursday night predicted to be 38 degrees. Snow will be possible in areas far north of the Kansas City area, the weather service said.

According to the weather service, the slower forward speed of a southeastward cold front will allow the Kansas City area to remain in warmer temperatures through much of the daylight hours on Thursday, according to the weather service. The slower speed of the cold front also will mean a change in the timing for precipitation that might have been snow Friday morning. The slower speed also will provide a longer duration of precipitation across the area, the weather service said. Rainfall will end much later, now Friday afternoon and evening.

Today, there is a 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 4 p.m., with a high near 72, the weather service said, and an east wind of 5 to 7 mph.

Tonight, there is a 100 percent chance of precipitation, with rain and thunderstorms likely before 10 p.m., according to the weather service, then ain between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., followed by rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m. The low will be around 38 with a north northeast wind of 15 to 17 mph, gusting as high as 30 mph. Between a half and three-quarters inch of rain is possible.

Friday, there is a 90 percent chance of rain and possibly a thunderstorm, with a high near 46, the weather service said. A north wind of 17 to 20 mph will gust as high as 34 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Temperatures will reach a high of about 77 today, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

It will be windy, with gusts up to 24 mph on Wednesday. Elevated fire weather conditions are possible in some areas this afternoon, the weather service said.

A change in the forecast means it might be better to hold off planting a garden. With a change from the last forecast, snow is now in the forecast for Friday morning, according to the weather service. The weather service has dropped the Thursday night temperature low to 34 instead of 37 as predicted on Tuesday, with rain changed to snow for Friday morning. The highest amounts of snow are possible to the north.

Widespread precipitation will return Thursday afternoon continuing into Friday, with a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain on Thursday night. Snow and rain possible on Friday morning, according to the weather service.

A mix of rain and slushy snow is possible in some areas on Friday morning, the weather service said. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

Today, it will be sunny, with a high near 77, the weather service said. A south southwest wind of 6 to 16 mph will gust as high as 24 mph.

Tonight, there will be increasing clouds, with a low of 49, according to the weather service. A south wind of 6 to 10 mph will gust as high as 18 mph.

Friday, there is an 80 percent chance of precipitation, with snow before 8 a.m., followed by a chance of rain and snow between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., then a chance of rain after 9 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 49 with a north wind of 14 to 16 mph, gusting as high as 30 mph. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
