Rain in forecast today

On-and-off showers are expected today into Thursday morning, with a slight chance of snow as well as rain, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Little or no accumulation is expected, according to the forecast. Snow was possible through about 8 a.m. this morning. The temperature was 37 at 9 a.m.

The temperature today may reach a high of 43, with Thursday’s high near 46, the weather service said. Temperatures could reach a low of 34 on Thursday night.

Near normal temperatures will return this weekend, with temperatures increasing to 59 on Friday and 61 on Sunday, according to the weather service. Monday’s high will be near 72, and Tuesday’s will be 77.

Today, there is a 50 percent chance of rain and snow showers in the morning, followed by a chance of rain showers, the weather service said. The high will be near 43 with a north northwest wind of 15 to 17 mph, gusting to 29 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain was in the forecast.

Tonight, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with a low of 35, according to the weather service. A northwest wind of 8 to 14 mph will gust as high as 23 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of precipitation is possible.

Thursday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 46, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 8 to 11 mph will gust as high as 21 mph.

Thursday night, it will be mostly cloudy, then mostly clear, with a low of 34, according to the weather service. A west wind of 3 to 7 mph could gust as high as 18 mph.

Friday, it will be sunny, with a high of 59 and a northwest wind of 6 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 24 mph, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 35, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 54, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 34, according to the weather service.

More rain is in today’s forecast from the National Weather Service.

Widespread scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the afternoon, according to the weather service.

A few strong or severe thunderstorms are possible east of I-35 into central Missouri, but at this time, the forecast appears to indicate that severe storms could have moved east of Wyandotte County. Residents should pay attention to the weather reports today to follow any forecast changes.

High winds and hail could be part of the storms in the region today, according to the weather service. A tornado could be possible east of the Kansas City area.

More off-and-on rain is in the forecast for Wednesday, the weather service said.

Temperatures will cool off to a high of 42 on Wednesday, and a low around 34 on Wednesday night, according to the weather service. They will rebound to a high of 57 on Friday, before increasing to 68 on Sunday.

Today, there is a 70 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, then rain is likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 59 with an east southeast wind of 7 to 11 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 70 percent chance of rain and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms between midnight and 1 a.m., then a chance of rain after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 37. A north northwest wind of 15 to 17 mph will gust as high as 32 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, mainly after 1 p.m., with a high near 42, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 17 mph will gust as high as 29 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of rain, mainly before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 34 with a northwest wind of 8 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 22 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

Thursday, it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 46, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 8 to 11 mph will gust as high as 20 mph.

Spring brings rainy weather today

Spring officially started on Sunday. Look for some springtime rain midday and this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain is expected to continue overnight, with up to an inch possible. Then expect more rain and possibly a thunderstorm on Tuesday, the weather service said, with another quarter-inch possible.

Rain doesn’t stop there, as more rain and scattered showers are possible Tuesday night, Wednesday and Wednesday night, according to the weather service forecast.

There is the possibility of severe weather Tuesday afternoon with hail, strong winds and a possible tornado, the weather service said. If severe weather occurs, it could be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The forecast is not certain here for the potential tornado activity.

Thursday night, temperatures may go to freezing, as the low is predicted to be 32, according to the weather service.

Today, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, mainly after 5 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 68 with a south wind of 11 to 16 mph, gusting as high as 30 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 100 percent chance of rain, with a low of 51, according to the weather service. An east southeast wind of 9 to 11 mph will gust as high as 24 mph. Between three-quarters and one inch of rain is possible.

Tuesday, there is an 80 percent chance of rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 7 a.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 7 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 59 with a southeast wind of 6 to 14 mph, becoming west northwest in the afternoon. Winds may gust as high as 22 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible, except higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.
