After a night of thunderstorms and rain, Wyandotte County residents should see milder weather today with a high near 82, according to the National Weather Service.

Mostly cloudy weather will give way to sunny weather on Wednesday, and tonight’s forecast will be mostly clear, with a low of 61, the weather service said.

On Thursday, temperatures may climb to a high of 89, with wind gusts as high as 22 mph, according to the weather service.

There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms returning on Thursday night through Friday night, the weather service said. Saturday has a 40 percent chance of rain in the morning.

Sunday should see dry and sunny skies, with a high of 69, according to the weather service.

Today, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 82, the weather service said. A north northwest wind will be around 7 mph.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 61, according to the weather service. A north wind of 5 mph will become calm in the evening.

Thursday, it will be sunny, with a high near 89, the weather service said. A light south wind will increase to 8 to 13 mph in the morning, gusting up to 22 mph.

Thursday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., then a slight chance of showers after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 67, with a south wind of 15 mph, gusting as high as 26 mph.

Friday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m., the weather service said. It will be mostly sunny, with a high near 78. A south southwest wind of 11 mph will become north northwest in the afternoon, and winds may gust up to 24 mph.

Friday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 52. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

Saturday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m., with a high near 60, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 44, according to the weather service.

Sunday, it will be sunny, with a high near 69, the weather service said.

Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 51, according to the weather service.

Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Wyandotte County

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect in Wyandotte County until 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of their building, the weather service said.

This storm has 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail, according to the weather service.

Kansas City, Kansas, Bonner Springs, Edwardsville and Wyandotte County, along with surrounding areas, are under the thunderstorm warning, according to the weather service.

The thunderstorm warning also is in effect for Johnson and Leavenworth counties, as well as some counties in Missouri.

At 10:46 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Perry to near Williamstown to Lawrence to near Vinland to near Pleasant Grove to near Baldwin City to near Centropolis to near Pomona Lake, moving east at 40 mph.

Severe storms possible tonight

A cluster of storms is likely to move into the region Tuesday evening and continue into the overnight hours Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe storms are expected, with damaging wind gusts and large hail the primary hazards, the weather service said. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, according to the weather service.

Locally moderate to heavy rainfall will be possible which may lead to localized flash flooding as well as minor river flooding, the weather service said. Hydrology charts from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on Tuesday morning showed all the rivers in Wyandotte County were not anywhere near flooding levels.

Thunderstorms tonight could produce a half-inch to an inch or more of rain. Local flash flooding is possible, and minor river flooding also is possible, according to the weather service.

Today, there is 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 80 with a south wind of 8 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 21 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 4 a.m., then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 64 with a south southeast wind of 6 to 10 mph becoming west southwest after midnight. Winds may gust up to 20 mph. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there is a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 a.m., with a high near 80,the weather service said. A light and variable wind will become north northwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 60, according to the weather service. A north northwest wind of 6 mph will become calm in the evening.

Thursday, it will be sunny, with a high near 88, the weather service said. A light southeast wind will become south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Winds may gust as high as 22 mph.
