Today’s forecast from the National Weather Service will be mostly sunny and breezy for Memorial Day.

Winds today will gust up to 44 mph, according to the forecast.

Strong to severe storms are possible this evening and Tuesday across the region, the weather service said.

Wyandotte County is in a marginal risk area for tonight’s severe storms, and in an enhanced risk area for Tuesday’s severe storms, according to the weather service.

The main threats of the storms are large hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado, according to the weather service.

Today, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 75, the weather service said. It will be breezy, with a south wind of 22 to 25 mph, gusting to 44 mph.

Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 70, according to the weather service. It will be breezy, with a south wind of 14 to 21 mph, gusting as high as 32 mph.

Tuesday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 81. A southwest wind of 10 to 14 mph will gust up to 23 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Tuesday night, there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 59, according to the weather service. The low will be around 59. A west northwest wind of 6 mph will become light and variable, gusting as high as 18 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers are likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 71 with a north northeast wind of 6 to 8 mph. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 56. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Thursday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 74, the weather service said.

Sunny skies and temperatures reaching into the mid-70s are forecast for Friday, the weather service said.

Temperatures will rise to 85 on Saturday, near 89 on Sunday, and 87 on Monday, Memorial Day, according to the weather service.

Tuesday through Wednesday night will bring a chance of rain, the weather service said.
