On Thursday, the high will jump to 70, and on Friday, 82, according to the weather service, with Saturday and Sunday at 80 and 82.

A freeze warning continues until 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Frost and freezing temperatures will kill crops at these temperatures, according to the weather service. The hard freeze will end the growing season, the weather service said.

The temperature was 30 degrees, with a wind chill of 21, at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Today’s high will be 44 and tonight’s low will be 23. High will be in the 80s on Friday and Saturday.

There will be a high fire danger this afternoon because of ongoing dry weather conditions and gusty north winds, according to the weather service.

There is a chance there will be a record low Tuesday.

Freezing weather moves into area

A frost advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. today, and a freeze warning will be in effect from 10 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

In addition, there will be a high fire danger today because of dry conditions and winds gusting as high as 24 mph this afternoon, the weather service said.

The temperature was 37 degrees at 9 a.m. Monday, with a wind chill of 30.

A widespread hard freeze is expected Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, according to the weather service. Subfreezing temperatures could kill any sensitive vegetation and harm unprotected outdoor plumbing, the weather service said.

Sensitive plants should be protected from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly, according to the weather service. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

Temperatures should warm up by the weekend, with Friday’s high near 79, the weather service said.
