Thunderstorms could develop along and south of Interstate 70 late this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 40 percent chance of rain this evening, and a chance exists during the evening rush hour, the weather service stated.

The main threats of the storms are small hail, gusty winds, lightning and locally heavy downpours, the weather service said. A few storms could be strong to borderline severe, with the isolated risk of wind gusts and hail.

From a quarter-inch to a half-inch of rain is possible in some areas, with locally heavier amounts in stronger storms, according to the weather service. Flooding is not anticipated, the weather service said.

Temperatures today have dropped since the weekend, with the high near 83.

Today, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with a high near 83, the weather service said. A southwest wind of 6 to 8 mph will become north in the afternoon.

Tonight, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 62, according to the weather service. A north wind of 6 mph will become calm in the evening. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is likely.

Wednesday, there is a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms before 7 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 80 with a calm wind becoming east around 6 mph in the morning.

Wednesday night, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 64 and an east southeast wind of 5 mph becoming calm in the evening, according to the weather service.

Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. The low will be around 64 with a northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain are possible.
