Warmer, drier weather in forecast

After a high of about 83 today, Wyandotte County will see a warming trend for the end of the week into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The next chance for precipitation for the week will be Friday, when a few thunderstorms may be possible in northeastern Kansas, the weather service said. However, this chance of rain could miss Wyandotte County altogether.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be the next best chance for rain, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation, according to the weather service.

Today, it will be sunny, with a high near 83 and an east southeast wind of 7 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be clear, with a low of 64 and a southeast wind of 3 to 5 mph, according to the weather service.

Thursday, it will be sunny, with a high near 86 and a south wind of 6 to 10 mph, the weather service said.

Thursday night, it will be clear with a low of 67 and a south southeast wind of 6 mph, according to the weather service.

Friday, it will be sunny, with a high near 87 and a south wind of 7 mph, the weather service said.

Friday night, it will be partly cloudy, with a low of 66, according to the weather service.

Thunderstorms could develop along and south of Interstate 70 late this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 40 percent chance of rain this evening, and a chance exists during the evening rush hour, the weather service stated.

The main threats of the storms are small hail, gusty winds, lightning and locally heavy downpours, the weather service said. A few storms could be strong to borderline severe, with the isolated risk of wind gusts and hail.

From a quarter-inch to a half-inch of rain is possible in some areas, with locally heavier amounts in stronger storms, according to the weather service. Flooding is not anticipated, the weather service said.

Temperatures today have dropped since the weekend, with the high near 83.

Today, there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with a high near 83, the weather service said. A southwest wind of 6 to 8 mph will become north in the afternoon.

Tonight, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low of 62, according to the weather service. A north wind of 6 mph will become calm in the evening. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is likely.

Wednesday, there is a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms before 7 a.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 80 with a calm wind becoming east around 6 mph in the morning.

Temperatures will rise to the high 80s today in Wyandotte County, with winds gusting up to 29 mph, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

On Tuesday afternoon and evening, there will be a chance of thunderstorms, the weather service said. Look for the showers to intensify around 7 to 9 p.m.

A few strong borderline severe storms could pose a hail risk with the first storms in the evening, according to the weather service.

Recent dry conditions should make the risk of flooding less likely, the weather service said.

Today, it will be sunny, with a high near 89 and a south southwest wind of 11 to 16 mph, gusting as high as 29 mph, the weather service said.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low of 73 and a south wind of 11 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 28 mph, according to the weather service.

Tuesday, there is a 30 percent chance of precipitation, mostly after 1 p.m. The high will be near 85 with a southwest wind of 6 to 13 mph, gusting as high as 26 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is in the forecast.

Tuesday night, there is a 70 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m., according to the weather service. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. The low will be around 64 with a northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain are possible.
