A cool and windy day is ahead, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

The high was about 40 at 9 a.m., with a wind chill of 31, and temperatures were expected to reach only 41 today, the weather service said. Temperatures will drop to a low of 26 tonight.

Wind gusts from the west northwest may reach as high as 36 mph today, according to the weather service.

Today, there will be increasing clouds, with a high near 41, the weather service said. It will be breezy, with a west northwest wind of 17 to 23 mph, gusting as high as 36 mph.

Tonight, the low will be around 26 with a northwest wind of 7 to 14 mph, gusting as high as 24 mph, according to the weather service.

Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 47 and a west northwest wind of 6 to 9 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon, the weather service said.

Saturday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 38, according to the weather service. A south southwest wind of 6 to 9 mph will become northwest after midnight. Winds may gust as high as 20 mph.

Sunday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 50, the weather service said. A northwest wind of 5 to 10 mph will gust as high as 24 mph.

Winds may gust as high as 28 mph today, the weather service said. On Friday, wind gusts could reach 32 mph.

Cooler temperatures on Friday wil kep wind chills in the 20s much of the day, according to the weather service.

Today, Veterans Day, it will be sunny, with a high near 54, the weather service said. A west northwest wind of 13 to 17 mph will gust as high as 28 mph.

Tonight, it will be mostly clear, with a low around 36, according to the weather service. A west southwest wind of 10 to 15 mph will gust as high as 24 mph.

Friday, there will be increasing clouds, with a high near 43, the weather service said. It will be breezy, with a west northwest wind of 14 to 21 mph, gusting as high as 32 mph.

Friday night, it will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low of 28, according to the weather service. A northwest wind of 5 to 15 mph will gust as high as 23 mph.

Thunderstorms possible today

Scattered thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon into early evening, according to the National Weather Service.

A few storms in the region could be strong, producing strong damaging winds and perhaps a brief tornado, the weather service said.

Rainfall amounts by Thursday morning will range from a half-inch to 1.5 inches, according to the weather service.

After a cold front moves in, temperatures will drop, the weather service said. The high will be 42 on Friday. Temperatures will drop to 28 on Friday night.

Today there is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day and also after 3 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 66 with a south wind of 8 to 10 mph, gusting as high as 23 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Tonight, there is a 90 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 10 p.m., then a chance of showers between 10 p.m. and midnight, according to the weather service. The low will be around 41, with a south southwest wind of 7 to 14 mph becoming northwest in the evening. Winds may gust as high as 23 mph. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is possible.

On Thursday, Veterans Day, it will be sunny, with a high near 54 and a west wind of 10 to 16 mph, gusting as high as 29 mph, the weather service said.
