ID program on tonight’s UG committee agenda

An identification program will be discussed tonight at a Unified Government committee meeting.

The Unified Government Public Works and Safety Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, May 24, in a Zoom meeting.

After the PWS meeting will be the UG Administration and Human Services Committee.

On the agenda for the PWS meeting is a presentation on the Kansas City, Kansas, identified program from the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department. The program, in partnership with Cross-Lines Community Outreach, is modeled after a program in Topeka that provides identification for the homeless population.

The program would allow unsheltered individuals to access a state-issued identification necessary to receive state aid, mental health resources, banking and housing resources, according to agenda information.

Also on the agenda for the PWS meeting are revisions to the municipal sanitary and separet storm sewer system.

On the Administration and Human Services Committee meeting agenda is a discussion of the Community Development draft annual action plan and a proposal to set a public hearing date on it of July 29.
