Driver crashes after hitting standing water on I-635

When a driver hit standing water in a lane of I-635 this morning, she lost control of her Nissan Altima and hit the barrier wall, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

The accident happened on southbound I-635 near Leavenworth Road at 8:53 a.m. June 30.

The driver, a 36-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, woman, had a possible injury and was taken to a hospital, the report stated.

Fatal accident reported on I-70

A fatal accident was reported at 4:37 p.m. Sunday, June 27, on westbound I-70 in Kansas City, Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a GMC Jimmy was westbound on I-70 when it changed lanes, lost control and overturned multiple times.

The driver, Brian Hanna, 63, of Kansas City, Kansas, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was wearing a seat belt.

The location of the accident was between the I-435 and the 78th Street exits on I-70.

Light rain was reported in the Kansas City area on Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
