Roadwork planned on I-435

Pothole patching is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, on northbound and southbound I-435 from the Kansas River to the Missouri River, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

There may be some short-term alternating lane closures with this project, according to KDOT.

Also ongoing is the Leavenworth Road construction project from 78th to 63rd Street, according to KDOT. The road is reduced to one lane of 11 feet while construction is underway. Flagging is used to direct traffic.

Work is during daylight hours and the project should be complete in May 2022 , according to KDOT.

Accident reported on I-70

An accident was reported at 12:55 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, on westbound I-70 at I-635, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

A Ford and a semi were westbound on I-70 when the Ford changed lanes and struck the semi, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Ford, a 77-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, was not injured, the report stated.

An 82-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman in the Ford had a possible minor injury, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the semi, a 61-year-old man from Edwardsville, Kansas, was not injured, the report stated.

Injury-accident reported on I-70

An injury-accident was reported on I-70 near Mill Street about 11:28 a.m. Dec. 25, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

A Chrysler 200 was westbound on I-70 when for unknown reasons, the driver lost control, the trooper’s report stated. The vehicle left the road to the left, striking the inside barrier wall, according to the report.

A 25-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man had a possible serious injury and was taken to a hospital, the trooper’s report stated.
