Police are investigating a fatal accident about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 29, at South James Street and Central Avenue.

According to a police spokesman, officers with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department discovered a single vehicle resting on its roof at the location.

The driver, a woman in her early 20s, died at the scene from her injuries, the spokesman stated.

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department Traffic Division is investigating.

The identity of a man who died in a wreck Thursday on I-635 has been released.

Dwayne F. Stout, 51, of Gallatin, Missouri, died in a crash about 4:50 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at northbound I-635 about two-tenths of a mile north of I-70, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

Stout was driving a pickup truck that was in an accident with a semi, according to the report.

The Freightliner semi was eastbound on the ramp from eastbound I-70 to northbound I-635, the trooper’s report stated. The Silverado pickup truck was traveling northbound on I-635, according to the report. The semi was hauling a utility trailer, according to the trooper’s report.

The semi failed to negotiate the curve on the ramp, ran off the road to the right and struck the pickup truck, the trooper’s report stated. Both vehicles came to rest in the right side ditch, according to the report.

The semi driver, a 36-year-old man from Aurora, Colorado, had a possible serious injury and was taken to the hospital, the report stated.

A passenger in the semi, a 51-year-old man from Gulfport, Mississippi, had a possible minor injury and was taken to the hospital, according to the trooper’s report.

A passenger in the pickup truck, a 42-year-old Cameron, Missouri, man, was taken to the hospital with a possible serious injury, the trooper’s report stated.
