Accident reported on I-635 near Shawnee Drive

An accident was reported at 7:21 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, on southbound I-635 near Shawnee Drive, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A Toyota Highlander southbound on I-635 could not slow in time, as traffic slowed in the southbound lanes, and struck the rear of a Ford Explorer, the trooper’s report stated.

The Highlander entered the right side ditch, according to the trooper’s report. The Explorer came to rest on I-635.

The driver of the Highlander, a 57-year-old woman from Riverside, Missouri, had a possible minor injury and was taken to a hospital, the trooper’s report stated.

The driver of the Explorer, a 59-year-old man from Shawnee, Kansas, had no apparent injury, according to the trooper’s report.

Accident reported near I-635 and K-5

An accident was reported at 6:40 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, on northbound I-635 near K-5, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A GMC Canyon was northbound on I-635 when the driver fell asleep at the wheel, lost control, drifted and struck construction barriers, the trooper’s report stated. The Canyon then flipped on its side.

The driver, a 60-year-old man from Lenexa, Kansas, had a possible serious injury and was taken to a hospital, according to the trooper’s report.
