A driver fell asleep while driving on northbound I-635 near Metropolitan Avenue this morning.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, the driver of an Acura TL was northbound on I-635 when the driver fell asleep.
When the driver awakened, he had to swerve to miss hitting a concrete barrier wall, the report stated. He left the roadway and hit a guardrail around 6:35 a.m. Feb. 24, according to the report.
The driver, a 22-year-old man from Kansas City, Kansas, had a possible minor injury and was taken to a hospital, the report stated.
I-635 southbound was shut down Friday evening as Kansas City, Kansas, police were investigating a shooting.
Kansas City, Kansas, police responded to a shooting call at about 5:30 p.m. Friday near I-635 and Metropolitan, according to a police spokesman.
When police arrived, they found one gunshot victim with a non-life-threatening condition, and another victim with injuries after the car they were in wrecked, according to the spokesman. The second victim’s condition also is non-life-threatening, the spokesman stated.
A portion of I-635 southbound is closed while police are processing the scene and looking for evidence, according to the spokesman.
Both victims were taken to a hospital, the spokesman stated.
