Section of southbound Turner Diagonal closure postponed until April 21

A portion of the southbound Turner Diagonal from 65th to K-32 in Kansas City, Kansas, is scheduled to be closed to traffic on Wednesday, April 21, weather permitting.

It was postponed from an earlier closure date of April 20. According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, work will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to remove an overhead sign truss over the roadway.

Traffic may travel south on 65th and east on K-32 back to the Turner Diagonal. Motorists should use an alternate route or allow extra time in their travel schedule, and expect delays, a spokesman stated.

The KDOT spokesman urged all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. Hit-and-run crash reported at I-70 and 18th

A hit-and-run collision was reported at 7:03 a.m. Sunday, April 18, at eastbound I-70 and 18th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s crash report.

A Mazda 3 passenger car was eastbound on I-70 when an unknown vehicle merged into its lane and struck the right rear of the Mazda, according to the trooper’s report.

The Mazda drove into the right ditch, the trooper’s report stated. The unknown vehicle fled the scene of the collision, the trooper’s report said.

A description of the unknown vehicle was not available in the crash report.

The driver of the Mazda, a 21-year-old resident of Parkville, Missouri, had a possible injury and was taken to the hospital, the trooper’s report stated.
