Kansas City allowed four runs in the sixth inning as the T-Bones fell 7-2 to Grand Prairie on Tuesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan.

Kansas City starter Rick Zagone (6-2) tossed five scoreless innings before the AirHogs tallied four hits in the sixth that gave Grand Prairie the lead and they wouldn’t look back.

The T-Bones were out in front early after a timely Grand Prairie error in the second inning. Following a Nick Schwaner walk with two outs in the inning, Jeff Lusardi reached on a fielding error by AirHogs’ second baseman Alex Nunez. Brian Erie then shot a single to left field that scored Schwaner and gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead.

Schwaner added another run on his own, leading off the fourth with a line drive over the right-field wall that extended the Kansas City advantage to 2-0.

The AirHogs finally got to Zagone in the sixth. Vince DiFazio led off the inning with a double and later came around to score on a Madison Carter groundout. With two outs in the inning, Eric Baker walked and Jimmy Mojica singled before Alex Nunez laced an RBI single into left field that scored Baker and tied the game at 2-2. Jason Botts roped a two-run double down the right field line later in the inning, giving Grand Prairie a 4-2 lead.

Grand Prairie added another run in the eighth courtesy of two fielding errors by Kansas City third baseman Darrell Hudson. Baker reached on Hudson’s first error to lead off the frame and would later come around to score on another Hudson error, pushing the AirHogs’ lead to 5-2.

Grand Prairie tacked on two more in the ninth for a 7-2 win. Jason Jarvis (2-1) allowed two runs on eight hits over eight innings. Zagone took the loss.

With the loss, the T-Bones fall to 25-26 on the season. Kansas City continues their series with Grand Prairie on Wednesday night at 7:05. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618.

On Tuesday, July 8, the Kansas City T-Bones will help raise awareness for domestic violence with Strike Out Domestic Violence Night from Verizon Wireless.

Fans are encouraged to bring and donate their no-longer used phones and accessories, in any condition from any wireless provider at the 7:05 p.m. game at the CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kan. Verizon will then donate all collected devices to Kansas City-area shelters for victims in need.

There will be a silent auction benefiting Safehome domestic violence shelter. In addition, Verizon Wireless will be giving away T-Bones cell phone cases to the first 1,500 fans that arrive.

During the game, live tweeting from the Social Media Club of Kansas City will also take place to continue to raise awareness. Fans are encouraged to join the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #StrikeOutDV.

Vice president-general manager Chris Browne, select T-Bones players and T-Bones media personnel will conduct live tweet sessions before and during the game via @tbonesbaseball.

The T-Bones needed a big seventh-inning rally to help take the series finale, 7-4, over Sioux Falls at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Sunday in Kansas City, Kan.

After battling back and forth through the majority of the game, the T-Bones trailed 4-3 in the home half of the seventh. Nick Schwaner launched a leadoff home run, sparking a rally.

Robby Kuzdale kept the offense going with an RBI single, and then David Espinosa followed with a triple to right that scored two in what turned out to be a four-run inning.

Sioux Falls got on the scoreboard first, jumping on winless T-Bones starter Andy Noga in the first inning. Chris Duffy lined a one-out single into left that scored Steve Tinoco.

Kansas City answered in the bottom of the inning when T.J. Mittelstaedt led off the Kansas City half with a home run — his seventh — on top of the berm in right field.

Down 2-1, in the fourth the T-Bones got the offense going with three consecutive doubles at the start of the inning by Bryan Sabatella, Espinosa, and Byron Wiley, which gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead.

The Canaries evened the score at 3-3 in the fifth with another two-hit inning on singles by Duffy and Chris Valencia.

Pat Doyle (3-3), who came in for Noga in the seventh, was credited with the win. Kris Regas notched his 12th save with a scoreless ninth. Espinosa went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs and a run.

After taking three out of four against the Canaries and moving to 25-25 at the midway point of the season, the T-Bones are off Monday before starting a three-game series at CommunityAmerica Ballpark against Grand Prairie on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618.
