Laredo, Texas – Another night, another offensive explosion by the Laredo Lemurs. The Lemurs finished a four-game sweep of the T-Bones at Uni-Trade Stadium behind an 8-2 win Monday night.

The T-Bones scored early, as was the case in all four games in Laredo, with one run in the top of the first. With two outs, Bryan Sabatella drove in Vladimir Frias, who reached base with a one-out single.

The lead was short-lived for Kansas City, which saw Laredo score three runs in the bottom of the first inning against starter Casey Barnes, capped off by a two-run double by JP Ramirez. That gave Laredo all the runs it needed.

The Lemurs pulled away, however, with a three-run sixth inning, including an RBI double by former T-Bones outfielder Byron Wiley. Barnes (2-4), who was charged with all three runs in the inning, allowed seven runs and 10 hits through 5 2/3 innings.

The T-Bones had only one less hit than Laredo (11-10), but stranded 10 runners as Laredo pitchers recorded nine strikeouts, with the lion’s share going to starter Casey Harman (5-1), who struck out six.

Although Kansas City scored nine runs during two of the games in this four-game sweep, the Lemurs outscored the T-Bones 41-25 in the series, thanks in part to 10 home runs.

The T-Bones (36-43) have lost six in a row and are seven games below .500 for the first time in 2014. The last time the T-Bones lost six in a row was Aug. 28-Sept. 2 — the last six games of the 2013 season. Kansas City now travels to Amarillo (28-50) for a three-game series starting Tuesday night at 7:05.

Laredo, Texas – The Laredo Lemurs are known for their offense, and they showed it Sunday night with a 10-9 win over Kansas City in 10 innings at Uni-Trade Stadium.

Laredo launched five home runs in the contest, but none was bigger than the one hit by Kansas City native Nick Van Stratten. After the T-Bones tied the game in the top of the ninth with a two-out rally that produced three runs, Van Stratten hit a two-out, walk-off homer in the bottom of the 10th against Kansas City reliever Kris Regas. It was the second loss for Regas (6-3), the T-Bones All-Star closer, during this series.

Kansas City, down 9-6 in the ninth inning, and down to its final out, collected four consecutive hits. With bases empty and two outs, Matt Padgett doubled for the second time in the game and advanced to third on Ray Sadler’s single. Then, down to his final strike, Nick Schwaner launched an RBI double down the left-field line, scoring Padgett and advancing Sadler to third. Bryan Sabatella came through with the game-tying hit for the second time in the series.

The T-Bones, however, went down in order with three strikeouts by Chad Povich (3-4) in the top of the 10th inning.

Laredo struck first off Kansas City starting pitcher Joe Van Meter with a solo home run from Dennis Phipps in the first inning. Van Meter pitched 3 1/3 innings and was charged with seven runs to go with five strikeouts in a no-decision.

The T-Bones took the lead in the top of the second, when they struck for five runs, getting RBIs from Brian Erie, T.J. Mittelstaedt, Danny Richar and Padgett. All five runs were charged to Laredo starting pitcher Cesar Carillo, who didn’t get a decision in spite of leaving with the lead after eight innings.

The T-Bones (36-42) look to snap their season-high five-game losing streak as they conclude the four-game series Monday night against Laredo (45-33) at 7:30.

Laredo, Texas – After taking a suspended game from Kansas City earlier in the evening, the Laredo Lemurs completed a Saturday sweep over the T-Bones with a 13-5 win in the nightcap at Uni-Trade Stadium.

With Kansas City leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Laredo took advantage of a walk, an error and a three-run home run by Travis Denker off Kansas City starter Andy Noga (2-4), and never looked back. Laredo broke the game open with a seven-run eighth inning, with all runs charged to Kansas City relief pitcher Hamilton Bennett.

The game started with a bang, as the T-Bones struck for two runs in the top of the first, getting hits from T.J. Mittelstaedt, Danny Richar and Matt Padgett that gave Kansas City an early 2-0 lead. Mittelstaedt, Richar, Padgett and Ray Sadler each ended the game with two hits. Bryan Sabatella led the way with three of Kansas City’s 12 hits.

The Lemurs got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second on a solo home run by former T-Bones infielder Devin Goodwin, who had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs. The Lemurs would tie the game in the fourth on an RBI double from JP Ramirez against Noga.

Kansas City took its last lead of the night in the next frame, when Padgett’s sacrifice fly scored Richar and gave the T-Bones a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth.

Earlier Saturday, in the conclusion of Friday night’s game, which was suspended shortly after midnight because of the American Association’s curfew rule in a 9-9 tie after 10 innings, the Lemurs scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Nick Van Stratten, who finished the game with five hits and three RBIs.

Kansas City closer Kris Regas (6-2), who failed to hold the lead Friday night by giving up two runs in the bottom of the ninth, gave up the winning run in the 10th on Saturday. During the game, Padgett homered for the 200th time in his career, and for the first time this year with Kansas City.

With the two losses, for the second time this season Kansas City has dropped four in a row and, at 36-41, is five games below .500 for the first time this year. The T-Bones and Lemurs (44-32) are scheduled to play game three of the four-game series Sunday night at 7:30. That game can be heard on 1660-AM in Kansas City or online at tbonesbaseball.com.
