T-Bones rained out again in Joplin

Two T-Bones games on Thursday at Joplin, Mo., were rained out.

The doubleheader was postponed, and no make-up date was set for the three games out of four that were rained out.

The T-Bones will return to Kansas City, Kan., on Friday night against Wichita.

Friday’s game will be Star Wars Night, with an appearance by the Falcon Skydiving team at the 7:05 p.m. game.

Saturday is Military Appreciation Night, with CPR training and postgame fireworks planned. It also is Boy Scout campout night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Sunday will be the sixth annual Bark in the Park Day, with free admission for dogs. There will be pregame player autographs, and postgame, kids run the bases. Hot dogs will be $1 with the purchase of a drink. The game starts at 1:05 p.m

Despite three homers, T-Bones lose 6-5

Despite hitting three home runs, the T-Bones lost 6-5 Monday to Joplin at Joe Becker Stadium, Joplin, Mo.

The T-Bones got within one strike of winning the game. The T-Bones were ahead 5-4 in the ninth inning and Joplin had two outs when Carlos Ramirez hit a two-strikes double, scoring Oscar Mesa, who had walked, and Omar Luna hit a single to score Ramirez.

T-Bones who hit homers on Monday night included Jake Blackwood, Kyle Robinson and Vladimir Frias.

The loss went to reliever Jonathan Kountis, who allowed two hits and two runs in one inning.

The T-Bones, 8-14, will play Joplin, 14-8, again at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday in Joplin.

Laredo shuts out T-Bones in final series game

The Kansas City T-Bones, won the series, but dropped the finale Sunday night, 4-0 to Laredo at Uni-Trade Stadium in Texas.

The Lemurs took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, and never let go. Tony Delmonico doubled to start the inning, off Kansas City starting pitcher Casey Barnes, and scored on a Luke Bailey RBI single. Laredo would tack on additional one-run in the fifth inning, when Delmonico connected on his sixth home-run of the season.

Down 4-0, the T-Bones had runners on first and second in the eigth inning, but Lemur starting pitcher Omar Bencomo got Ryan Cavan to ground-out to end the threat.

Bencomo (3-0) pitched eight scoreless innings, and allowed just five total baserunners. Casey Barnes (2-2) took the loss for Kansas City, and was charged with four runs in five-plus innings.

Jake Blackwood and Vladimir Frias each had two hits for Kansas City.

The T-Bones (8-13), continue the seven-game roadtrip to Joplin (13-8) on Monday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
