The Kansas City T-Bones’ five-game winning streak was broken in a loss to the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, 2-1, on Tuesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas.

The T-Bones and RedHawks went scoreless through the first five innings and Kansas City couldn’t even muster a hit until the bottom of the fifth.

Fargo-Moorhead finally got something going in the sixth with two RBI doubles, giving the team a 2-0 lead. Right fielder, K.D. Kang, nailed the first double to center field scoring left fielder, Devan Ahart, while the second double came from catcher, Charlie Valerio, to score Kang.

Left fielder, Joe Jackson, tried to spark some offensive momentum for the T-Bones in the bottom of the sixth when he launched a solo home run, but the T-Bones were not able to cut the deficit any further. The RedHawks led the T-Bones 2-1 going into the seventh.

Kansas City couldn’t make a comeback, ending the five-game winning streak.

Tyler Herron (1-0) picked up the win for the RedHawks, while Scott Carroll (3-2) took the loss for Kansas City. Fargo’s Casey Weathers picked up his sixth save of the season.

The T-Bones will play the final game of a three-game series with Fargo-Moorhead at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The Kansas City T-Bones beat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 7-4, on Monday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas. It was the fifth straight win for the T-Bones.

The T-Bones struck first with an RBI double from catcher Leo Rojas in the second inning. Kansas City extended its 1-0 lead to two with a sacrifice fly from center fielder, Omar Garcia, to end the inning.

After three scoreless innings, the RedHawks were able take over the lead, 3-2, in the fourth.

A wild pitch by right-handed pitcher, Chris Perry (3.42 ERA), allowed left fielder, Devan Ahart, to score, putting Fargo-Moorhead on the scoreboard for the first time. Right fielder, K.D. Kang, followed up, closing the lead with a two-run home run.

Kansas City had no answer in the following four innings, but was able to tie the game at three in the bottom of the seventh. Designated hitter, Kevin Keyes, advanced to first for an RBI single scoring shortstop, Eddie Newton, keeping the game interesting going into the eighth inning.

The RedHawks regained the lead quickly thanks to a solo home run from third baseman, Josh Mazzola, putting Fargo-Moorhead back on top 4-3 going into the bottom of the eighth.

The T-Bones continued to do everything possible to stay in the game. Newton’s RBI single to left field tied the game again, this time at four. Garcia all but sealed the deal for Kansas City when he put the T-Bones on top, 5-4, for the first time since the second inning with an RBI single to right field.

The T-Bones added some additional cushion with an RBI single to center field from second baseman, Marcus Lemon, and an error by shortstop Yhoxian Medina allowing Keyes to advance to first and Garcia to score. Kansas City extended its lead to 7-4 going into the final inning of the game.

Fargo-Moorhead was unable to respond to the T-Bones’ four-run eighth inning, giving Kansas City its fifth straight win.

Myles Smith (1-2) picked up the win, giving up one run in two innings while Richie Tate (1-1) was charged with the loss. Cody Winiarski notched his fifth save of the season, tossing a 1-2-3 ninth.

The T-Bones will continue a three game series with Fargo-Moorhead at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. A free T-Bones hat from Sheet Metal Local 2 will be given to the first 1,500 fans entering the stadium.

The American Association has announced that T-Bones right handed pitcher Chris Perry is the league’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 18th.

Perry, who hails from Cary, N.C., and played collegiately at Methodist University (Fayetteville, N.C.), tossed seven shutout innings, giving up just one hit and punching out nine Wichita Wingnuts, in a no decision on Monday, June 12th.

The righty has been in a groove for Kansas City with 20 strikeouts in his last 12 2/3 innings including 11 strikeouts against Wichita on June 6th at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The team went on to sit down 24 via the strikeout that night, breaking the old record of 22 set by Wichita on May 20, 2011, against El Paso.

Perry became the first T-Bone to strike out at least 10 batters in a game since last August, when Jared Messer hit that mark with 10 strikeouts. For the season, Perry is 0-1 in 26 1/3 innings with 36 strikeouts for Kansas City.
