In dramatic fashion, the T-Bones’ Jordan Edgerton hit a three-run home run in the 10th inning to win 4-1 over Sioux Falls Monday night.

The T-Bones electrified the crowd of 5,173 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, Kansas, with an outstanding pitching duel for nine innings, before Edgerton’s blast put an end to the game in extra innings. The T-Bones’ excellent post-game fireworks display over State Avenue was almost anticlimactic.

The T-Bones now have won six in a row, and are tied for first place in the Central Division of the American Association.

The T-Bones’ starting pitcher, Cal Drummond, pitched six innings, giving up five hits, striking out six, and giving up a home run. Myles Smith then came in for two innings, giving up no hits and striking out three. The winning pitcher was Luis Paula, who pitched two innings and had one strikeout.

Grady Wood pitched six innings for Sioux Falls, giving up seven hits and one run while striking out six. The losing pitcher was Jose Ortega, who pitched part of one inning and gave up one home run, two hits and three runs.

Sioux Falls’ Chris Jacobs hit a home run in the sixth inning to put the Canaries on the scoreboard.

Marcus Lemon, who had three hits in the game for the T-Bones, scored in the sixth inning after Kyle Petty hit a sacrifice fly. Lemon plays second base.

The T-Bones and the Canaries are scheduled to play again at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, at Community America Ballpark, Kansas City, Kansas. Those who wear patriotic colors will receive buy-one, get-one-free general admission tickets. Post-game fireworks for Independence Day are scheduled. Check the T-Bones websites for any weather updates.

T-Bones move into first-place tie and sweep Sioux City

The Kansas City T-Bones beat the Sioux City Explorers 6-4 Sunday night at Mercy Field at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City, Iowa, sweeping the three-game series and moving into a first-place tie with Lincoln, which was rained out on Sunday.

Matt Sergey (2-0) went 6 2/3 innings to get the win, giving up three earned runs, while striking out 10. It was the second straight night that a Kansas City starter had hit the 10 strike out mark, after Scott Carroll struck out 10 the night before.

Jordan Edgerton drove in a pair of runs on three hits including a triple and a double, and Kyle Petty, Chantz Mack and Leo Rojas all drove in a run each in the win.

The bullpen was once again stellar as Rich Mascheri and Cody Winiarski each worked scoreless innings with Winiarski earning his ninth save of the season. The loss went to Ryan Flores (1-1) in relief for Sioux City.

The T-Bones finished the road trip 5-1 with a 2-1 series win at Lincoln and earning their first road sweep of the season and their second of the season in the three game sweep at Sioux City. Kansas City is a season-high seven games above .500 as the team returns home to begin a seven-game home stand.

The T-Bones return home at 7:05 p.m. Monday, July 3, to face Sioux Falls in the first game of a three-game series and a seven-game home stand. There are fireworks planned after the July 3 and July 4 games.
