The Kansas City T-Bones announced today that the club has signed right-handed pitcher Akeem Bostick and that he will start game two of a doubleheader tonight against the Texas AirHogs in Texas.

The club has also traded outfielder Tyler Marincov to the Winnipeg Goldeyes for a player to be named later.

Akeem Bostick comes to Kansas City from the Houston Astros organization where the right-hander went 4-5 with a 7.28 ERA in 80.1 innings with 73 strike outs, issuing 42 walks in 21 games with the AAA Round Rock Express in the Pacific Coast League. Bostick was released from the Houston Astros AAA affiliate on Aug. 9, 2019.

Bostick was selected in the second round by the Texas Rangers in the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft. He was a two-sport athlete in West Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina, playing football and baseball. In baseball he stood out with a record of 10-0 an ERA of 0.60 as a starting pitcher and was ranked 86th in the nation according to Perfect Game scouting reports.

Before being drafted by the Rangers, Bostick committed to play baseball and football for Georgia Southern, but he decided to decommit to pursue professional baseball. His first two seasons with the Rangers were spent with the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League before being traded to the Houston Astros for catcher Carlos Corporan.

Bostick reached class AAA Round Rock Express with the Houston system, but his best full-season was with the AA Corpus Christi Hooks in 2018. In Corpus Christi he recorded a 3.48 ERA, averaged 1.8 runs a game, and 4.6 punchouts a game. His best stat line was when Bostick started for the Quad Cities Bandits in the Midwest League, putting up a 1.50 ERA with ten total runs in 49 innings to close off the 2015 season.

During his tenure with the Astros organization, Bostick played with Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel, Sioux City’s Dexture McCall, and current T-Bone Christian Correa.

In the winter of 2017-2018 he played with Cañeros de Los Mochis of the Mexican Pacific League, pitching in 39 games and only 42 innings pitched. He sported a 4.07 ERA at 47 strikeouts while in the MPL for one season.

In the winter of 2018-2019 Bostick went down to Venezuela to play with Caribes de Anzoátegui in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, ending the season with a 2.81 ERA in 32 innings pitched and averaged about seven strikeouts per game.

Tyler Marincov, a native of Orlando, Florida, spent 19 games with the T-Bones and has been on a hot streak. After going 0-for-5 on August 3rd, the right-handed batting outfielder has raised his average 39 points and just recently went 5-for-11 in the T-Bones three-game sweep of first place Cleburne. For the season Marincov is hitting .236 with three home runs and 11 RBI for Kansas City.

Marincov was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 8th round of the 2013 MLB draft and went on to spend the next six seasons with the Athletics organization.

He was a standout hitter at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2012 he hit .332 as a sophomore, and in 2013 he hit .331 in as a junior prior to his selection by Oakland.

During his minor league career, he hit .254 in 631 games while spending two years in the Mexican and Dominican Winter Leagues, playing for the Gigantes del Cibao of the Dominican League in 2016-2017 and the Bravos de Margarita of the Mexican League in 2017-2018.

After finishing the 2018 season with the Midland RockHounds, he signed with the Guerreros de Oxcana of the Mexican League in April of 2019. He played there for 19 days before going on to sign with the High Point Rockers of the Atlantic League. He hit .250 for the Rockers in 42 games before being released on July 18. Kansas City signed Marincov on July 21.

Kansas City is currently riding an eight-game winning streak and have fought their way back into the post season race.

The T-Bones trail first place Cleburne by three and a half games and second place Sioux City by a game and a half for the wild card playoff spot. The Kansas City T-Bones (47-37) continued their winning ways late in the game against the Cleburne Railroaders (47-35) with a walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth on Wednesday. It capped a sweep of Cleburne and an eight-game winning streak.

Carlos Diaz (1-1) was credited with the win, working a scoreless top of the ninth for KC. Cleburne reliever Tyler Wilson (3-2) picked up the loss.

Neither team scored in the first three innings. However, in the top of the fourth, Zach Nehrir gave the Railroaders the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly to center field off KC starter Dylan Baker, bringing home Chase Simpson. They got another in the sixth on a sacrifice fly to center field, this time John Nester drove in Simpson.

The T-Bones finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth on a first-pitch, leadoff home run to left by Shawn O’Malley off Cleburne’s starter Michael Gunn.

O’Malley hit another home run in the next inning, this time from the left side of the plate, driving in Tyler Marincov and Ramsey Romano off Cleburne’s Greyfer Eregua and giving the T-Bones a 4-2 lead.

Robert Calvano took over for Baker, who went seven innings of two-run baseball and who gave up the lead with a two-run home run to John Nester.

The score remained tied until the bottom of the ninth when Chris Colabello stepped up with the bases loaded against Wilson and sent one up the middle, bringing home Dylan Tice as the winning run.

Shawn O’Malley collected his third and fourth home runs of the season, finishing the night 3-4 with four RBI and two runs scored.

The T-Bones will look to continue their winning streak in a weekend series in Texas against the AirHogs. KC will play a doubleheader to start the series, with the first pitch at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug.16. The game will be on the T-Bones Broadcast Network http://mixlr.com/t-bones-baseball/.

Chris Colabello launched a blast in the first inning – a home run scoring two – as the T-Bones again looked like the American Association champions they are in Tuesday night’s game at JustBats Field at T-Bones Stadium, Kansas City, Kansas.

The T-Bones won their seventh straight game and displayed their comeback ability in the seventh inning Tuesday night against the Cleburne Railroaders.

At the top of the third inning, the Railroaders got two runs, and added two more at the top of the fourth, for a Cleburne lead of 4-2.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Shawn O’Malley, Tyler Marincov and Roy Morales scored. Morales hit a single, Marincov hit a double, while O’Malley was hit by a pitch to get on base. Ramsey Romano’s double allowed O’Malley and Marincov to score, and the T-Bones led, 5-4.

In the eighth inning, the T-Bones added four more runs to make the score 9-4. Colabello singled and Casey Gillaspie hit a home run to start the rally. O’Malley singled and stole a base, then scored on a Marincov single. Also getting hits in the inning were Romano, Dylan Tice and Daniel Nava.

Cleburne came back in the ninth, but it was not enough, and the T-Bones won 9-7.

The winning pitcher was Christian Binford, while D.J. Sharabi took the loss. Carlos Diaz got the save. Attendance was listed as 1,899.

The T-Bones are now 42-37 on the season and Cleburne is 47-34.
