St. Louis visits Sporting KC on Tuesday in KCK

Sporting Kansas City will begin the club’s 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup campaign at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Sporting Park with a fourth round match against USL expansion side St. Louis FC.

A limited number of tickets are available via Ticketmaster.com and the match is included as Special Game A in season ticket packages.

Sporting Kansas City will provide a live stream, presented by Sprint, on SportingKC.com and in-game updates can be found by following @SKCGameday on Twitter.

A record crowd is expected for the first competitive match in team history against a St. Louis opponent with the winner advancing to the Round of 16, for which a draw will be conducted by U.S. Soccer on Thursday.

Sporting Kansas City midfielder Paulo Nagamura will make a special appearance from 5:30-7 p.m. on Thursday at Jack in the Box, 211 S. 18th St., in Kansas City, Kan., for a meet-and-greet with fans. The 11-year MLS veteran is in his fourth season with Sporting KC, playing every minute in the 2012 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and 2013 MLS Cup championships.

At last night’s game, Sporting Kansas City won 1-0 against the Seattle Sounders.

It was 84 minutes into the game when the goal was made by Benny Feilhaber.

This is the first time that Sporting Kansas City won against the Seattle Sounders in a long time – it snapped a nine-game winless streak.

“This was a very tough game and everyone did their job,” said Sporting KC team captain Matt Besler.

Sporting KC, 6-2-6, is in third place in the Western Conference of the MLS. Seattle, 8-4-2, remains in first place.

Seattle Sounders to visit Sporting KC on Saturday in KCK

Sporting Kansas City will look to extend the club’s six-game unbeaten run when it plays host to league leaders Seattle Sounders FC at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.

A limited number of tickets, including standing room only tickets released, may be available via Ticketmaster.com and the first 10,000 fans through the gates will receive a commemorative Matt Besler poster.

Saturday’s match will be televised locally on KMCI-TV 38 the Spot and across the Midwest on SKCTV with three hours of coverage beginning at 7 p.m. In addition, Sports Radio 810 WHB (English) and La Grande 1340 AM (Spanish) will provide live broadcasts for their listening audiences in Kansas City.

Single-game tickets for Sporting Kansas City home matches from July through October went on sale this week via Ticketmaster.com. Tickets were available for the first time for the following matches:
• Sat., July 18: Sporting KC vs. Montreal
• Sat., Aug. 1: Sporting KC vs. Houston
• Sat., Aug. 15: Sporting KC vs. Vancouver
• Wed., Aug. 19: Sporting KC vs. San Jose
• Fri., Sept. 18: Sporting KC vs. FC Dallas
• Sun., Sept. 27: Sporting KC vs. Seattle
• Sun., Oct. 25: Sporting KC vs. LA Galaxy

Sporting Kansas City forward Dom Dwyer is one of eight Sporting KC nominees on the fan ballot for the 2015 AT&T MLS All-Star Game. Voting began last week and will continue online, via social media and through EA SPORTS FIFA 15 until July 3.

Other Sporting KC players on the ballot include Tim Melia, goalkeeper; Jalil Anibaba and Matt Besler, defenders; Roger Espinoza, Benny Feilhaber and Graham Zusi, midfielders; and Kriztian Nemeth, forward.
