Hyperloop pod arrives at Kansas Speedway

The hyperloop pod is currently at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas, where the public may go on tours to see it on Saturday, Sept. 14, with the purchase of a ticket to the American Royal Barbecue being held at the Kansas Speedway this weekend. The Virgin Hyperloop One XP-pod, a fast means of mass travel in a tubelike structure, potentially would travel from Kansas City to St. Louis in about 28 minutes. The project is pending funding and talks are underway with transit authorities. The project uses electric propulsion and electromagnetic levitation in near-vacuum conditions. The hyperloop pod potential could reach speeds of 600 mph. There is no definite location yet for the hyperloop’s station in Kansas City at this time. (Photo by William Crum)

Discount offered on Kansas Speedway tickets for military service members through GEHA partnership

Kansas Speedway and GEHA (Government Employees Health Association) have partnered to enhance Kansas Speedway’s military offer, while GEHA will also be the presenting sponsor for Kansas Speedway’s pre-race activities for the Hollywood Casino 400 on Oct. 20.

“I’m excited to partner with GEHA on our military offer,” said Kansas Speedway President Patrick Warren, in a news release. “We are big supporters of our military men and women, and their families as they allow us to race not just at Kansas Speedway but at race tracks throughout the country.”

“As one of the largest providers of health and dental plans for federal employees, military retirees and their families, GEHA is proud to serve more than two million members nationwide,” said Sherry Gibbs, GEHA vice president, marketing, in a news release. “The Kansas City area has been our home for 82 years, and we’re honored to partner with our hometown track to fuel our organization’s local and national growth, enabling us to better serve our members.

“GEHA appreciates those who serve our country, which is why partnering with Kansas Speedway, a leading supporter of the military, is an exciting opportunity,” Gibbs said.

The offers for military include a free pre-race pass with a regular priced ticket, or a $75 ticket for the Hollywood Casino 400, an over 40 percent discount on the regular price.
