Kansas Speedway celebrates 20th anniversary with weekend races

Kansas Speedway celebrates its 20th anniversary with NASCAR races this weekend.

Three races are planned May 1 and 2, with the NASCAR Cup Series race at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2. Kansas Speedway is near I-70 and I-435 in Kansas City, Kansas.

An ARCA Menards Series race will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, followed by the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Country music performer Willie Jones will perform the national anthem before the NASCAR Cup Series race on May 2.

The Kansas Speedway is planning on reduced capacity this weekend because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and has in place a number of safety protocols and procedures.

Many fans have had their grandstand seats relocated because of the seating capacity limitations. Social distancing and screening is planned, with staggered entry times for fans. Masks will be required through the event, with hand-sanitizing stations placed around the entrances and grandstands.

The Sunday NASCAR Cup Series race has been named the Buschy McBusch race through a fan naming contest. The naming contest was a benefit for Farm Rescue, an organization that helps family farmers. Busch beer is the entitlement sponsor of the race.

Dutch Boy Paints, a subsidiary of Sherwin-Williams, is the entitlement sponsor for the ARCA Menards Series race event at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Wise Power will be the entitlement sponsor for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at 6:30 p.m. May 1 at Kansas Speedway. Wise Power is a renewable energy provider.
