Parts of I-670 to close tonight in Kansas City, Mo.

Parts of eastbound I-670 in Kansas City, Mo., will close tonight for work at the Grand Bridge project, according to Missouri highway officials.

All lanes of eastbound I-670 between I-35 and Route 71 on the south side of the downtown loop in Kansas City, Mo., will close to finish work and remove traffic control for the Grand Bridge project, according to a Missouri highway news release.

Lanes will close at 9 p.m. Nov. 30 and reopen no later than 5 a.m. Dec. 1, a spokesman said. All work depends on the weather.

Traffic can bypass the closure using I-70 around the north side of the downtown loop.

U.S. 69 Missouri River bridge lane closing rescheduled

Work originally planned for Monday, Nov. 21, and Tuesday, Nov. 22, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, according to highway officials.

Crews are scheduled to close the southbound lane of U.S. 69 Missouri River Bridge from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, for sign installation and striping work, according to a highway spokesman. All work is weather dependent.

This is part of a project to replace the current U.S. 69 Highway Bridge over the Missouri River. A new structure will be constructed in its place and will include multiple lanes and bike/pedestrian access. It will be open to traffic in December 2016.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
