Choral Festival planned Saturday

The Kansas City, Kan., Public Schools will hold its annual Choral Festival on Saturday, Oct. 4. The event will begin at noon in the Washington High School Auditorium, 7340 Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, Kan.

The event will feature choirs from many of the district’s middle and high schools. Also performing will be the Voices of Change (young men’s choir from KCK), the Kansas City Kansas Community College choir and the All-City Children’s Chorus.

Staff, students and community members are invited to come and hear these groups perform. Admission is $1.

Parade canceled

The Village West Parade of Heroes was canceled tonight, according to a note on the Facebook page of the Village West Rotary Club.

The event was canceled because of the weather, according to the note.

There are no plans to reschedule it this year. The event afterward also was canceled.

Special school board meeting Friday canceled

A special school board meeting at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, has been canceled, according to an announcement today.

The special meeting of the Kansas City, Kan., Board of Education had been planned at the law offices of McAnany, Van Cleave and Phillips.

The meeting will be rescheduled in late October or early November, according to an announcement from the school district.
