Kindle to speak at FIA meeting Feb. 12

The guest speaker for the Fairfax Industrial Association meeting Feb. 12 will be Greg Kindle, Kansas City, Kan., Area Chamber of Commerce president and Wyandotte Economic Development Council president.

The Fairfax Industrial Association will meet for a luncheon at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at Design Mechanical, 100 Greystone Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

The cost of the luncheon is $15 for FIA members and $20 for nonmembers.

Event planned for School Choice Week

School Choice Week includes an event this week at Open Door Christian School, 3033 N. 103rd Terrace, Kansas City, Kan.

The school will have an open house from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Jan. 28 and 29 in conjunction with School Choice Week.

The open house includes a school tour and classroom visit.

The goal of the event is to inform parents about education options available for their children, providing families with a variety of options for education.

“Kansas parents have more education options for their children than ever before. The state has experienced a notable growth in the number of public school and private school options for families,” said Andrew R. Campanella, president, National School Choice Week.

Free basketball camp planned Feb. 7

A free basketball camp is planned from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Bethany Recreation Center, 1120 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

The free Jr. NBA camp is sponsored by Sumner Academy and the Kansas City, Kan., Parks and Recreation Department.

It is for boys and girls in second through seventh grades.

Lunch will be provided by the OK Program and Pride Kansas City, Kan., Fire Department.
