At the Croatian Festival

More than 200 people showed up at this year’s St. John the Baptist Catholic parish’s Croatian Festival on Saturday evening.

Among those attending the event were State Rep. Kathy Wolfe Moore, former UG Mayor David Alvey, Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree and Wyandotte County Judge Courtney Mikesic.

The event continues until 10 p.m. Saturday. It was a fundraiser for the parish.

Saturday events

Church plans festival

St. John the Baptist Catholic parish, 708 N. 4th St., Kansas City, Kansas, will hold a Croatian Festival at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20. Featured food will include sarma dinners, sausage sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs, with beverages. There will be games, music, dancing and booths. Music will be by Hrvatski Obicaj and Kolograd. Fundraiser proceeds will go toward repairs and operation of the parish.

Free movie tonight at Legends Outlets

The movie, “Trolls,” will be shown at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at The Legends Outlets, on the Legends Lawn. The family friendly movie will be outdoors. The movie will be shown weather-permitting. There is no charge to see the movie. The Legends Lawn is located near the smokestack on the west side of the shopping center. The Legends Outlets is near I-70 and I-435 in Kansas City, Kansas.
