Applefest to be Sept. 24-25 at Grinter Place

Applefest will be Sept. 24 and 25 at Grinter Place historic site, 1420 S. 78th St., Kansas City , Kansas.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25.

This year’s event will be sponsored by the Grinter Place Friends and Strawberry Swing.

Artists, crafters, food trucks, live music and activities are planned.

Racing continues at Kansas Speedway

Two races are scheduled at Kansas Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 10. The Kansas Lottery 300, NASCAR Xfinity Series, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. The Kansas Lottery 150, ARCA Menards Series race, will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. Day of service planned

A Family Day of Service is planned at Cross-Lines Community Outreach Inc. The event honors those who lost their lives and those whose lives were forever changed by Sept. 11. The event will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 10, at Cross-Lines. Volunteers will create kits for community members to celebrate birthdays or special occasions. Renaissance Festival continues, with Highland Fling

The 45th annual Kansas City Renaissance Festival continues Saturday, Sept. 10, at the festival grounds, near 126th and State Avenue, Bonner Springs. The theme of this weekend is Highland Fling. The festival is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and on weekends through Oct. 16. Tickets may be purchased at the box office or online at www.kcrenfest.com. Today, festival-goers may bring five canned goods for Harvesters Community Food Network and get one free ticket with the purchase of one adult ticket. Military and first responders will get one free ticket with the purchase of one adult ticket.

Maker Faire to be at Alcott Arts Center

A Maker Faire will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Alcott Arts Center, 180 S. 18th, Kansas City, Kansas. Makers and crafters will sell their items at the outdoor event, weather permitting. The Alcott Arts Center is not yet ADA accessible. Museum exhibit on 100th anniversary of Fairfax continues

Wyandotte County Museum, 126th and State Avenue, Bonner Springs, continues its exhibit on the 100th anniversary of the Fairfax industrial district in Kansas City, Kansas. Besides artifacts, the museum exhibit includes a video on the history of the Fairfax industrial district. The exhibit will run through Sept. 24 at the museum, 621 N. 126th. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Admission is free.

Movie night planned at Legends Outlets

A free family-friendly movie, “Little Giants,” is scheduled to be shown at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at The Legends Lawn, located on the west side of The Legends Outlets at I-70 and I-435. The outdoor movie will be shown, weather permitting.
