Teachers attend training session

Six Wyandotte County teachers recently attended a training session at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Mo.

The teachers received educational training in science, technology and engineering.

Participating in the training session from Wyandotte County were Shawn Sharpley, Bonner Springs; Travis Klienow, Edwardsville, Kan.; and four from Kansas City, Kansas: Colleen Charlton, Leah Coffman, Reed Fagan and Sarah Tidwell.

Victim of fatal accident on K-32 identified

The victim of a fatal accident on K-32 at 118th Street has been identified, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The accident was about 1:40 p.m. July 7, according to a trooper’s report.

The victim was James Roden, 58, of Edwardsville, Kansas, the trooper’s report stated. His family has been notified.

The trooper’s report stated that Roden was driving a Chevrolet Lumina that was eastbound on K-32. For unknown reasons, the Lumina crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes, striking a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 66-year-old Tonganoxie, Kansas, man, was injured and taken to the hospital, according to the trooper’s report.

Eight Wyandotte County students named to spring dean’s honor roll at Fort Hays State

Eight Wyandotte County students were named to the spring dean’s honor roll at Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan.

To be eligible, students must have completed 12 or more credit hours with a minimum grade point average of 3.6 for the semester. On-campus and virtual college students are eligible.
