Kansas City Kansas Community College is holding two Employer Panel Discussions as part of its Work Readiness Week, Oct. 27 to 31.
The Employer Panel Discussions be at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Oct. 28, in Upper Jewell on the college campus, 7250 State Ave. Local employers will discuss what they are looking for in job applicants and how employees can advance in their careers after being hired. Audience questions are encouraged.
Topics discussed at the panel discussions will include reliability, appearance, work ethic, teamwork, communication skills and professionalism in the workplace. Employers will also discuss how the following issues could affect an applicant’s chances of getting a job – tattoos and piercings, social media use, credit scores and criminal history.
This is an opportunity for students and the community to find out directly from local employers what they value in job applicants, how to best prepare for an interview and how to enjoy success and advancement in one’s career, according to a spokesman.
These panel discussions are free and are open to KCKCC students and staff as well as to community members. For further information, call 913-288-7170.
