KCK student inducted into Pinnacle Honor Society at K-State

Sarah McCoy, a junior in technology management from Kansas City, Kan., has been inducted into the Pinnacle Honor Society at Kansas State University, Manhattan.

Pinnacle Honor Society members include nontraditional students such as working parents, mid-life adults, and distance students.

To be eligible to join the university’s chapter of Pinnacle, students must achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher, be of junior or senior standing, and have demonstrated a record of excellence in leadership, scholarship and community service.

Area students graduate from Graceland University

Two area students have graduated from Graceland University, Lamoni, Iowa.

They include Darius Dickerson, Kansas City, Kan., Bachelor of Arts; and Amy Schmidt, Bonner Springs, Master of Science in Nursing.

Graduation for 500 students was held May 18.

Area students receive honors at Saint Mary

Several students from Wyandotte County were named to the dean’s honor list for spring 2014 at the University of Saint Mary, Leavenworth.

The students had a grade point average of 3.5 or better. The students include:

Vallejo named to dean’s list at Upper Iowa

Joleen Vallejo, an accounting major from Bonner Springs, Kan., was named to the Upper Iowa University 2013-14 Spring Dean’s List.

To be honored, the undergraduate must have earned a minimum 3.50 GPA for the semester and be enrolled as a full-time student. The university is in Fayette, Iowa.

Williams receives degree from Georgia Institute

Ronald Williams of Kansas City, Kan., has earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Williams was among approximately 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students who received degrees during Georgia Tech’s 247th commencement exercises.

Tisch graduates cum laude

Katerina Tisch of Bonner Springs graduated from the University of San Diego on May 25.

Tisch earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and real estate. Tisch graduated cum laude.
