This is the best year ever for this year’s Kansas City Renaissance Festival.

Every year the Kansas City Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs sells more than 50,000 turkey legs. That doesn’t include other favorites like Scotch eggs.

This year is even bigger and better than ever. The festival even has a pulled pork sandwich that will amaze you. The fried Twinkies and fried Oreos will delight anyone with a true sweet tooth.

Also this year they offer vegan food for those who are health-conscious. There’s also a taco bar this year.

New this year at the Renaissance Festival will be a sit-down restaurant called White Stag, which offers such things as a Guinness stew and the pulled pork sandwich. These and other items are at one low price with unlimited sodas.

Coordinating the changes to the menu at the Renaissance Festival is Holly Price, new food and beverage manager. She has worked at the Florida State Fair and has developed many menus for various fairs and organizations.

“I really want people to come to the fair not only for the entertainment but for the food as well,” Price said. “This is why I came up with so many new items on the menu, which has taken several years just to develop.”

For entertainment, according to Will Peterson, one of the owners of the Kansas City Renaissance Festival, “We have something new this year.”

The group is called Pichus Stock, which is out of Scotland. They will be here for the Scottish Festival during that weekend.

If you want to go to a place the whole family can enjoy, the Kansas City Renaissance Festival is that place. For more information go the website www.kcrenfest.com. They’re open weekends Aug. 30 to Oct. 13 near 130th and State Avenue in Bonner Springs.
