Bonner Springs woman injured in icy crash

A Bonner Springs woman was injured in a crash Saturday on Highway 59, about 5 miles north of Ottawa, Kan.

The 63-year-old woman was a passenger in a Toyota Tacoma that was northbound on Highway 59, around 11 a.m., when it crossed a bridge and lost control on the ice, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

The Tacoma rolled, coming to rest on its wheels on top of the guardrail, the trooper’s report stated.

She was taken to a hospital, according to the report.

The driver of the Tacoma, a 65-year-old Tipton, Kan., man, was not injured, the report stated.

Moran to visit Bonner Springs Nov. 26 on listening tour

U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., today announced that he will visit Bonner Springs as part of his Kansas Listening Tour on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Area residents may attend and share feedback with Sen. Moran on the critical issues facing Kansas and the nation.

The issues Sen. Moran focuses on and the work he does in Washington, D.C., are largely based on the conversations he has with Kansans during these town hall meetings, according to a news release.

Since his election to the U.S. Senate, Sen. Moran has held a town hall in each of Kansas’ 105 counties.

Moran’s town hall meeting will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs.

Bonner Springs to hold Autumn Arts Fest Friday and Saturday

Bonner Springs will hold an Autumn Arts Fest Friday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Bonner Springs District Activity Center (YMCA), 410 N. Bluegrass Drive, Bonner Springs.

The hours of the event are 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The public may attend and shop for holiday gifts, arts and fine crafts.

There will be one-hour workshops for adults and children to make their own gifts.

Music, performers and food are part of the event, which is presented by the Bonner Springs Arts Alliance.
