Injury-accident reported in Bonner Springs

One person was injured in an accident at 12:21 p.m. June 30 on U.S. 73 – K-7 just south of I-70 in Bonner Springs, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

A Ford truck was southbound on K-7, approaching Speaker Road, according to the trooper’s report. A Jeep utility vehicle was northbound on K-7, making a left turn onto I-70. The Ford truck failed to stop at a red traffic light and struck the side of the Jeep, the trooper’s report stated.

The driver of the truck, a 34-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man, was not injured, according to the report. An 11-year-old boy in the truck was not injured, the report added.

The driver of the Jeep, a 53-year-old Bonner Springs man, was not injured, the report stated.

A 43-year-old woman passenger in the Jeep was injured and taken to a hospital in Kansas City, Kan., according to the report.

Wyandotte County students receive graduation honors at K-State

Several Wyandotte County students have earned graduation honors with their May 2015 degrees at Kansas State University, Manhattan.

The top graduation honor was summa cum laude, awarded to students who have averages of 3.95 or higher. Magna cum laude was awarded to students whose academic average was 3.85 to 3.949. Cum laude was awarded to students who academic average was 3.75 to 3.848.

Bonner Springs police investigate aggravated robbery

Bonner Springs police are investigating an aggravated robbery that happened at 5:20 a.m. June 23 in the 600 block of Silverhill Drive.

According to a preliminary investigation, a man exited the front passenger seat of a blue four-door sedan armed with a black handgun, police said.

The man approached a woman who was sitting in her car. The suspect fired one round into the ground and then pointed the gun at the victim, police said. The suspect demanded her money, and left with a purse in the blue sedan, police said.
