Van Halen to play concert in Bonner Springs tonight

Van Halen is scheduled to play at concert at 7:30 p.m. tonight, July 22, at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheater at 130th and State Avenue in Bonner Springs.

Van Halen is appearing with the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Victim of fatal accident in Bonner Springs identified

A pedestrian who was killed in a traffic accident at 12:51 a.m. Sunday, July 12, has been identified, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Janet K. Dull, 61, Kansas City, Kan., was killed as she was crossing the intersection of K-7 and 130th in Bonner Springs, according to the trooper’s report.

The trooper’s report stated that a Toyota car was northbound on K-7 when it struck the pedestrian. Driving the Toyota was a 71-year-old Leavenworth woman, according to the report. There was a 79-year-old passenger in the car.

Airman McLaughlin graduates from basic training

Air Force Active Airman Morgan R. McLaughlin graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

McLaughlin is the daughter of William E. McLaughlin of Sebastian, Fla., and Cheryl L. McLaughlin of Bonner Springs, Kan. She graduated in 2013 from Sebastian River High School, Sebastian, Fla.
