Kansas poet laureate to appear at Bonner Springs library

Kansas poet laureate Eric McHenry will speak and read from his work on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs, Kan.

The event starts at 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.

McHenry, of Lawrence, is a nationally known poet and associate professor of English at Washburn University in Topeka, according to his biographical information on the Kansas Humanities Council website.

He also is an associate professor of English at Washburn University, Topeka. He has won several awards for his poetry.

“Potscrubber Lullabies,” his first book, earned the Kate Tufts Discovery Award in 2007. “Odd Evening,” his third book of poems, will be published by Waywiser Press in 2016.

Park University announces Wyandotte County graduates

Park University has announced several graduates from Wyandotte County.

Commencement was held Dec. 12 at the Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence, Mo.

Those on the list either lived in Wyandotte County or attended a high school in Wyandotte County.
