BPU to meet Wednesday

The Kansas City, Kansas, Board of Public Utilities is scheduled to meet Wednesday, June 8, at 540 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas.

A work session will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 6 p.m.

On the agenda for the 6 p.m. meeting are a public comment time; a community presentation by Chandra Ward of Turner Community Connection; general manager and staff report; a customer service quarterly update; the April financial report; approval of preliminary financial reports that were already presented; miscellaneous comments and board comments.

On the agenda for the 5 p.m. work session are a board update and general manager update; the cold weather rule; and risk management overview.

Offices closed for Memorial Day

Unified Government and Board of Public Utilities’ offices will be closed for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 30.

UG offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day, and will reopen Tuesday.

Administrative offices of the Kansas City, Kansas, BPU will be closed Monday, May 30, for Memorial Day.

BPU emergency service is available seven days a week, around the clock. For power emergencies, call 913-573-9522. For water emergencies, call 913-573-9622.

Monday is also a holiday for Kansas and federal employees, and also is a U.S. Postal Service holiday.

Waste Management will not collect trash and recycling items on Monday, May 30, in observance of Memorial Day, according to the UG website.

Residential collections will be delayed by one day the week of Memorial Day. Those whose normal trash day is Monday should place items at the curb on Tuesday. Those whose normal trash day is Friday, June 3, should place items at the curb on Saturday, June 4.

BPU board meeting dates changed in June

The Kansas City, Kansas, Board of Public Utilities will meet on Wednesday, June 8, instead of June 1, and also on Wednesday, June 22, instead of June 15.

Usually, the BPU meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6 p.m.

Because of scheduling conflicts, the BPU board decided to change the June 2022 meetings to the second and fourth Wednesday, for that month only.
