Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle near 42nd and Metropolitan

The Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department Traffic Division is currently investigating an early morning accident that has killed a pedestrian.

At approximately 8 a.m. Sept. 14, an elderly pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing Metropolitan Avenue at 42nd Street in the Argentine neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas, according to a police spokesman.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where he later died, the spokesman stated. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities, according to police.

This incident is under investigation by the KCKPD Traffic Division. Anyone with information on this case is urged to call the Crime Stoppers TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477), the spokesman stated.

Memorial Day commemoration planned at Emerson Park

A Memorial Day commemoration is planned at 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Emerson Park, Strong Avenue and South 29th Street, Kansas City, Kansas.

The event, sponsored by American Legion Post No. 213, will honor veterans and remember those who died while serving in the nation’s armed forces.

The event is open to the public. Those attending should bring lawn chairs.
