Candidate forum planned tonight for mayor, sheriff candidates

A candidate forum is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at the upper Jewell building at Kansas City Kansas Community College, 7250 State Ave.

Candidates for Unified Government mayor and Wyandotte County sheriff will appear at the forum.

The forum tonight is sponsored by Business West, the Central Avenue Betterment Association, Kansas City Kansas Community College and the Historic Northeast-Midtown Association.

Candidates for the Unified Government Commission and the Board of Public Utilities are scheduled to appear at the forum on Wednesday, July 18, at KCKCC.

The community college is expected to tape the forum to be played back on Channel 17, the school’s public access channel on the Spectrum cable system, and Channel 146 on the Google TV system.

Another candidate forum is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, at St. Andrew Missionary Baptist Church, 2200 N. 53rd St.

The primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 1, and the general election is Tuesday, Nov. 7.
